TORCH is a data modeling and visualization application used by New York University’s Department of Population Health. The platform is home to a set of computer simulations that aim to improve decision-making and healthcare policy. Using data and HIV prevention models developed by NYU, we developed a web application for NYU Torch that allows government officials and policy makers to test various various combinations of disease prevention initiatives to determine likely results and optomize budget spend. We developed a user interface using High Charts and AJAX calls to smoothly redraw simulations and highlight data plot points that exist along the optimun “efficient frontier”.
